Turner County Release Records
A release means the person has left the custody shown in that record. It does not always mean the case is over or that no other agency holds the person. Someone may post bond, finish a sentence, receive probation, begin parole, transfer to Georgia Department of Corrections custody, or leave under a court order. A federal or immigration detainer can also change where the person goes next. That distinction matters because each outcome creates a different trail.
The Turner County Sheriff's Office Interop system separates current custody from the arrest archive. Current entries say CURRENTLY BOOKED. Archived entries can say RELEASED and still retain the booking, charge, bond, court, and jail-stay details. A person who entered state custody belongs in the GDC search instead. A Turner RSAT participant is already in a state correctional program, so that release should never be treated as a county-jail discharge.
Turner County Release Paths
The release reason controls the next useful source. A bond payment may start local processing, but it does not prove that the jail has completed release. Sentence completion and state transfer produce different records. Use the table to keep the systems straight.

A dismissal may end a charge but does not itself describe the physical release process. Likewise, an archive entry marked released proves departure from that Turner booking, not freedom from every possible custody system. Check the court and any receiving agency when the outcome is unclear.

Release type, exact time, destination, and supervision may require a sheriff record, court order, or state record rather than the public archive alone. Match name, arrest date, warrant, and court before assuming two entries concern the same event.
Request Turner County Release Records
Georgia's Open Records Act supplies the request route when an online entry is missing or lacks the needed release detail. The sheriff and jail are at 1301 Industrial Drive, Ashburn, GA 31714. The Sheriff's Office main number is 229-567-2401, and the jail number is 229-567-3812. Ask which custodian holds jail booking and release records before sending a request.
- Write down the person's full name, arrest date, and any warrant or booking detail visible in Interop.
- Describe the record sought, such as the booking-and-release record for a named Turner County jail stay. Ask for the release date, release time, reason, and destination only if those fields exist.
- Send the request to the Turner County Sheriff's Office records custodian through the channel the office confirms. Keep a copy of the wording and delivery date.
- If the office cannot produce records within three business days, review its stated production date, cost estimate, or legal basis for withholding.
- Use the court file for the disposition or sentence, and use GDC records when the person transferred into state custody.
O.C.G.A. 50-18-71 permits lawful search, retrieval, redaction, copying, and administrative costs. - For federal custody, use the BOP locator. For immigration custody, use the ICE locator. Neither replaces a Turner jail record.
- Request the record from the sheriff, GDC, or court custodian when the public portal is silent.
Turner State Release Lookup
The GDC Find an Offender page routes users to the state query. Georgia describes searches by name, physical description, ID, or case number. The GDC family information page says results can show charges, facility location, and release date. This is the right channel for a person in GDC custody or someone whose state record shows a release or discharge. It is not the first source for a short Turner County jail booking.

Turner Bond Release Processing
Turner County has an online and phone payment route for sheriff bail bond and court payments through nCourt. The listed payment phone is 877-685-4495. Phone hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern. Sheriff Jessie Travelstead and Captain Troy Morris are named on that payment page.
Payment is one step, not the release record. Jail staff must still apply the payment, check the court terms, clear warrants or detainers, and finish discharge work. A paid receipt therefore should not be read as proof that the person has walked out. Confirm the status through the jail or wait for the archive to mark that booking released. A time-served discharge has no bond-payment step, while a transfer may end local custody without releasing the person into the community.
Note: Bond payment can begin release processing, but only the jail can confirm when custody actually ends.
Turner RSAT State Releases
Turner County also contains the Turner Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center in Sycamore. GDC lists it as a medium-security program for adult male felons with a capacity of 232. The site was constructed in 2004, opened in 2006 as a pre-release center, and was remissioned in 2012 as a six-month RSAT program. Wilcox State Prison is listed as the host facility.
A person leaving Turner RSAT is not a released Turner County jail detainee. The custody record belongs to GDC, with probation or parole channels where applicable, and the sentencing court. The facility's early pre-release role also explains why Turner records may use TPM and MRD language. Those stand for Tentative Parole Month and Maximum Release Date. A TPM is not a guaranteed release date, and program completion or Board review may still matter.
Turner Release Credit Errors
GDC documents a specific escalation path for errors involving time computation or county-jail credit. The incarcerated person should first speak with a counselor and may use the grievance process. Some errors require contact with the clerk of court in the county of conviction because the sentence or jail-credit order begins in the court record.
For Turner County, the correct court depends on the case. The Clerk of Superior Court maintains criminal filings, warrants, bench warrants, bond forfeitures, arraignment notices, and calendars. State Court handles misdemeanors, including traffic cases bound over from Turner municipalities. Provide the case number, sentencing date, and the disputed credit period. The jail archive can help identify the stay, but it does not replace a corrected sentencing order or GDC time computation.
Turner Court Release Confirmation
The roster's Court field is a routing tool. Turner County Superior Court records are held through Clerk Mary L. Green's office at 219 E College Ave, while State Court handles local misdemeanor matters at 219 E College St. Magistrate Court also appears in the county contact structure. Read the exact court field before calling, since one office may not hold the other court's disposition.
The statewide e-access page redirects users to a provider and may require an account. re:SearchGA access also depends on an account and county participation. When an online case is unavailable, request the docket, disposition, sentencing order, bond order, or dismissal from the named court. That record can explain why a booking ended even after the live jail roster has dropped the person.
Other Turner Release Systems
Georgia VINELink supports searches for people in participating custody systems and registration for custody-status notifications. It is useful for a specific-person check or alert, but it does not create the sheriff's release record and may not cover every local event in the same way. The Georgia Sex Offender Registry is a separate public-safety registry under O.C.G.A. 42-1-12. Registry presence does not prove current jail custody.
Federal records require federal tools. The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. BOP explains that a past release date with no facility location means the person is no longer in BOP custody, though the person might remain under supervision or in another agency's custody. ICE's locator accepts name, country of birth, birth date, or an eight- or nine-digit A-number. Use these only when the case or transfer points to federal or immigration custody.
Turner Custody Status Sources
No single search covers all Turner County released inmates. Choose the row that matches the last known custodian, then verify through that office when the result carries no exact release time.

Historic Turner Jail Confusion
The Historic Turner County Jail, also called Turner Castle, is at 243 College Street in Ashburn. It is a former jail building, not the current place to check custody or request a modern release record. Older local references can therefore lead searchers to the wrong address.
Current jail work belongs with the Turner County Sheriff's Office at 1301 Industrial Drive. The current roster, arrest-date archive, county contact page, and GDC's Turner County Jail location entry all point to that active operation. The historic site has value as local context, but it has no current detention agency identified in the research and cannot verify a release.
Turner Booking Photo Removal
Georgia treats booking-photo access and commercial publication as distinct issues. O.C.G.A. 35-1-19 restricts law-enforcement disclosure when a requested arrest photo may be posted or transferred for posting and removal would require payment. The Georgia Attorney General also explains that O.C.G.A. 10-1-393.5 requires qualifying commercial sites to remove a mugshot at no charge within 30 days after a written request in listed circumstances.
Those laws do not erase every arrest, court, or release record. A correction or removal request depends on the source, the facts, and the statute. Use the sheriff, court, or GDC record to verify the official status rather than relying on a copied image or old article. Do not assume that an image visible in a portal is free to republish.
Turner County Release Facilities
Three Turner locations require three different explanations. The active Turner County Jail handles county bookings and local release records. Turner RSAT Center is a GDC correctional treatment facility, so its releases belong in state records. Historic Turner County Jail is not a current custody source.
